Yesterday, Monday, was a special day! For our day off, our entire team got to go ride elephants! In case that wasn't fun enough, we also got to ride first in a songtow, then a 40 minute boat ride (each way) and then we got to the elephants. (picture below) Selah was on the boat with us, but she is behind Ross so you can't see her. On the way home, both Kiera and Mason took advantage of the breeze and gentle rocking of the boat to take a nap :-)
Once we were there, they divided us into teams of 2 adults with one child. Ross rode with Mason and Ethan. I rode with Johnny and Kiera. Selah rode with two of the girls on our team - Kamilla and Ann-Kristin. After the ride, some of the elephants were in the courtyard where we were eating lunch and you could pet them, feed them and take pictures with them. For less than $1 we bought a huge bag full of bananas and sugar cane. I'm not sure who liked the sugar cane more - the elephants our Selah and Kiera :-) (In the end, we bought 3 or 4 bags of food, it was really fun feeding the elephants)
Selah was the least afraid of the elephants, it took Mason and Kiera a little longer to warm up to them. Their trunks were deceivingly long and sometimes you would think you were far enough away from them and one would nuzzle you with his trunk looking for food.
We took so many pictures! We are hoping they will remember a little of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
